About Habiterra

Habiterra visualizes Earth as a connected system rather than a static globe. Users can inspect seasonal changes, day and night, lunar tide effects, cloud and wind patterns, ocean currents, sailing-relevant information and moving global entities on a single interactive planet.

The application is intended as an exploratory product for visual understanding, scientific curiosity and navigation-oriented world observation — in the browser and on Meta Quest.

Planetary view

Interactive Earth rendering with day and night, seasons, winter and summer states, selectable dates and adjustable interaction sensitivity.

Ocean and atmosphere

Clouds, winds, ocean currents and tide visualization support weather and ocean understanding at planetary scale.

Global movement

Optional world traffic layers can show ship positions, aircraft, satellites and the ISS through supported external data services.

Sailing and route context

Habiterra is also meant as a planning and exploration tool for barefoot routes and demanding ocean passages including Cape-related route scenarios.

Scientific and exploratory use

The project combines educational visualization, exploratory analysis and live-style data overlays in a single Quest-ready browser and VR app concept.

Habiterra in the browser

Explore the full 3D globe experience directly in the browser with seasonal transitions, time controls, tide context, weather overlays and live-style route layers in one immersive interface.

Orbital and seasonal context

This view highlights the broader Earth–Moon system with equinox alignment, orbital geometry and route-relevant overlays, showing how Habiterra connects celestial motion with navigation and seasonal understanding.
